Tips for Installing Interprise Suite on Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition

If you are one of those who love challenges and dare to explore so you decide to install Interprise (IS 5.3) version on Windows Server 2008 then read this post before you attempt.

Firstly be aware of Windows Server 2008 its user interface is different compared to Windows 2003 and its purely 64 bit machine so you need buffer time to learn and execute your steps ....

Ok here we go...
1. Firstly read Bill dimes blog for installing Interprise Suite e-Commerce on Windows 2003 server. We need to do few steps in 2008, this blog helped me to get started ... Read Win 2003 instructions

2. Do Step 1 and Step 2 as per Bill's instructions, stop before you do step 3, why?
Since you're using Windows 2008/IIS 7.0, you no longer need to use aspnet_regiis
to set the .Net Framework version you want your application to run against.

What you do in IIS 7 is set the runtime version for the Application Pool your app will run in.
You can do that in the IIS Manager's User Interface or, programmatically.

Change from DefaultAppPool to Classic .Net Pool and this should enable you to run all .Net apps built to use Win 32 bit on 64 bit machines.

3: Do an IISReset and launch ISE (Interprise Suite E-Commerce) for Windows 2008 version
